About the Position

In the role of trainee focusing on electricity market design, you will work on developing incentives and long-term investment signals to strengthen the reliability and adequacy of the electricity system.

You will belong to the Network Utilization unit, which is part of the Electricity Market department. The unit is responsible for market development to ensure sufficient incentives and procure flexible resources as needed for continued safe system operation and efficient network utilization.

After your trainee year, you will focus more specifically on some of the following areas:

• developing markets and compensation models for tariff design that contribute to efficient use of the electricity grid and enhanced delivery reliability
• developing incentives for faster grid connections
• analyzing the need for long-term investment signals
• procurement of strategic reserves as a capacity mechanism
• procurement of remedial measures that ensure capabilities are available for safe system operation.

Developing markets and compensation models requires engagement and collaboration across large parts of Svenska kraftnät and good dialogue with market actors both within and outside Sweden, as well as with authorities and departments. You will have the opportunity to develop and contribute to creating conditions for market actors to contribute to a cost-effective and reliable electricity system, as well as the chance to exchange experiences with colleagues who have worked in the industry for a long time.

About You

Requirements:

In your role as a trainee, you are an important ambassador and face of Svenska kraftnät. We are looking for someone who is curious, engaged, and humble in the fact that no one knows everything from the start. As a trainee with us, you will have a unique opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. During the trainee year, you will participate in training, mentoring, and practical experiences that prepare you for the future – while also contributing new perspectives and energy to our organization.

You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working with others to achieve common goals. You are goal-oriented and structured in your work approach, while also being relationship-oriented and building trust through responsiveness and respect.

We value a humble attitude towards learning – it is perfectly okay not to have all the answers right away. The most important thing is that you have the desire to develop, are open to feedback, and use it as a tool to drive your own development forward. Even though much will be prepared and structured for you during your trainee year, it is crucial that you take responsibility for your own work and your development with us.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. Svenska kraftnät is a government authority, and it is important that you live up to the government’s values.

By the start of the program, you should have a Master’s degree in engineering or a Master’s degree in economics with a focus on energy, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent.

Your degree should be issued in 2024, 2025, or expected in the summer of 2026. Since we are looking for someone who is new in their career, we want you to have a maximum of two years of work experience, before or after your studies. Part-time jobs during your studies do not count.

You also have experience in:

• exploring how the design of the electricity market creates conditions for a reliable electricity system
• good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you have knowledge and experience in:

• the energy sector in the form of summer jobs, internships, or other work experience
• engagement in associations and/or studies abroad.

• Possibility for remote work up to 50% #LI-hybrid provided that the tasks allow
• Travel with overnight stays occurs regularly during the trainee year.
